CHURCH OF RESTORATION TWIN PORTS is founded upon the scripture verse found in Luke 4:18-19, where Jesus says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted; to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” CHURCH OF RESTORATION TWIN PORTS is the product of “faith in action.” Every individual has a right to dignity and the pursuit to improve the quality of life in reference to the Holy Scriptures. A long term objective of  CHURCH OF RESTORATION TWIN PORTS will be to address strategic alliances and perhaps partnering  with local non-profits and/or government in the reclaiming, renewing, and rebuilding of Lincoln Park and the surrounding communities. The social gospel message to help the poor, blind, and oppressed is our holistic challenge to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the community.

In summary, our purpose is to introduce people to Jesus, inspire them in the worship of God, integrate them into the life of the church, instruct them in the process of Christian growth, and to inflame them with the passion to serve Jesus Christ! For the glory of GOD!

SOCIAL DIRECTIVE

Our social directive of renewing, revitalizing and restoring the lives of people in Lincoln Park , Twin Ports area and to all nations, will be executed through the preached word of the gospel and by cooperating with other entities which themselves have obtained 501(c)(3) status in the city of Duluth, MN to bring about quality of life improvements for the residents of Duluth, MN. These projects will be carefully considered to ensure that we provide faith based services to all community cooperative efforts.

Additionally, our social directive will work hard to ensure that on a monthly basis we:

•   Set up kiosks at local events to disseminate the gospel as well as provide prayer, support and interaction with the general public.

•   Involve people in evangelistic home Bible studies to create a setting where Christians can invite their friends who do not know the Lord

•   Network with other Christians in the church to identify receptive people and to reach out through their social webs so that the gospel would be preached through practical experiences.

•   Help new Christians in the church start reaching out to their friends and family soon after experiencing the new birth, by providing fellowship groups, training and support.

•   Maintain a Christian presence in the community, in order to find ways to present the Gospel to those who do not know Christ, and to persuade people to receive Christ and make a personal commitment.

•   Co-labor with other churches to provide training in witnessing and lifestyle evangelism.

Reclaiming

This initiative will include community beautification projects, cultural arts projects, recreation and sports projects and a food and clothing pantry, etc. All of these events will be done solely on a volunteer basis in order to increase the number of community residents that participate in other cultural programs located within the community.

On a regular basis we will gather the community by recruiting as many volunteers from within the community and:

•   Have community cleanup days. These days will feature scores of volunteers who will be gathered and coordinated by us to clean up the neighborhoods by picking up trash, painting and covering up graffiti from public places such as building, fences, bridges, homes and churches.

•   Involve volunteers, such as dance instructors, actors, musicians and local artists, and have cultural arts days. On these days, needy children and adults will be given the opportunity to interact with these specially selected volunteers and receive free lessons. This exposure is done in the hopes that it will awaken a love for the cultural arts and increase the number of community residents that participate in other cultural programs located within the community.

•   Create athletic leagues (clubs) for boys and girls within communities that suffer from economic depression and lack athletic programs. These leagues will focus on soccer, baseball and football. We will seek out the involvement of local merchants willing to sponsor teams and to volunteer employees who can pick up the children and drop them off at the city fields for practices and games. These leagues will be organized with religious and charitable purposes in mind with the hope that our example will draw them closer to Christ.

•   Distribute food to the needy. We will work hard to identify the needy within the community and ask residents as well as merchants from within the community to donate non-perishables as well as perishables so that they may be distributed to the neediest.

Renewing (Educating)

This initiative will include educational job training, job search, remedial studies, academics, after school programs, etc. Under this initiative we will launch our model to include empowerment, by teaching the principals of starting a business and developing it so that it becomes a way for families to provide for their basic necessities and take more pride in their communities.

We will strive to meet the educational needs of the community by empowering men and women to become achievers through education. With that task before us we will:

•   Create job training classes that focus on the importance of technology and social adaptability. We will seek out local churches and other organizations that will allow us free use of their facilities so that these classes may take place. Individuals will be taught basic and advanced computer skills in addition to workplace etiquette within the context of proper social behavior.

•   Create classes that will teach individuals how to start their businesses. We will gather successful business men and ask them to volunteer and share with participants their success stories as well as strategies for success in new business startups.

•   Strive to combat teenage pregnancy through church and Christian community participation. We will create pregnancy classes that will teach the importance of abstinence as well a keeping sex within the context of marriage as taught by the Holy Scriptures.

•   We will also create childbirth and parenting classes. Participants who graduate from the class also receive a free car seat as well as a stroller.
